Why be musically to artistically average – why not strive to be great?
Perhaps you plan on making art your life. Maybe you only want to be that good. Whatever your intention, Southeast Texas School of Music can help you get there.
There are certain things in which mediocrity is not to be endured, such as poetry, music, painting, public speaking.
–– Jean de la Bruyere
Southeast Texas School of Music is a private music lesson school offering studies in piano, voice, guitar, percussion, violin and woodwind instruments. We offer music lessons for children and adults, ranging from beginner to advanced student. Within our studios we encompass many different genres of music including, but not limited to, Broadway, Jazz, Classical, Rock and gospel music.
We seek to use God’s gift of music to develop musicians of character and confidence in an environment of excellence and integrity. Our endeavor is to bridge the cultures of music and education in a faith-based atmosphere that will prepare students for leadership, as well as for music professions.
We also recognize the fact that music has a huge impact on the academic performance of children. Studies have shown that most students increase their verbal and math scores after studying music. Research also indicates that musical training is far superior to that of computer instruction in dramatically enhancing a child’s abstract and linear reasoning skills necessary for learning math and science.
Some of the goals and priorities that form our philosophy as dedicated music teachers
Make music lessons fun! If it’s not fun students don’t practice.
Give each student musical and learning skills to last a lifetime.
Encourage students to be creative on his or her instrument.
Expand each student’s knowledge of musical styles and history.
Set a positive example for young students.
